POSITION SUMMARY
10X Health is searching for a seasoned, entrepreneurial healthcare attorney to serve as VP of Legal across a rapidly scaling, high-growth healthcare organization. The VP of Legal will be a part of the senior leadership team, reporting to the President of 10X Health and the Chief Legal Officer of Cardone Ventures (parent company of 10X Health).
This role will be integral in helping drive the national roll-out of 10X’s personalized precision medicine model both virtually and through our clinic partners. Day-to-day, this person will be overseeing the legal, regulatory, compliance, and privacy functions across 10X Health, collaborating closely with our leadership team to ensure our operations, practices, and strategies align with legal and regulatory requirements. This role requires a person to possess a strong analytical mindset, coupled with a strong healthcare regulatory and compliance background. The ideal candidate will have a practical, business-oriented approach to problem-solving and the ability to provide proactive, strategic advice, tempered by an appreciation of legal complexity and risk, and coupled with significant health experience.
OBJECTIVES
- Serve as primary point of contact for all legal & compliance questions regarding licensing, franchising, and state and federal regulations
- Work with the team to facilitate the process for opening new locations in various states, providing both onsite and concierge services
- Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including data privacy laws, Corporate Practice of Medicine (CPoM), anti-kickback, Stark law, and FTC/FDA regulations
- Stay abreast of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the healthcare and functional medicine industry, as well as the 10X Health suite of products and services, ensuring the company's compliance
- Create and maintain templates aimed for efficiency, velocity and consistency, and draft, review, and negotiate professional service, supplier, vendor, and other agreements
- Offer counsel and advice to the Executive team on a variety of legal issues
- Team with the parent company’s legal and finance team on strategic corporate transactions, including M&A and JV activity, and help develop deal strategy
- Research and anticipate unique legal issues that could impact the company
- Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure that they are in comply with legal requirements
- Assist with drafting and auditing any HR documents (i.e. letters of employment, non-compete, non-solicit, termination agreements, etc.)
- Provide accurate, relevant, and timely advice to 10X Health and other members of staff on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business sector
- Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures
- Promote legal, compliance, and risk management best practice throughout the company
- Liaise with and manage any third-party bodies such as external counsel or auditors
- Research and advise on special projects assigned by executive management or company legal counsel, and conduct legal research as needed
- Demonstrate broad and granular knowledge of substantive legal topics impacting the business
- Ability to adapt and operate in a fast-paced, fast-growth startup environment
- Master understanding of the business operations from a general, legal, and compliance perspective
- Ability to form relationships and maintain consistent lines of communication with internal key stakeholders, vendors, and outside counsel
- Prioritize and communicate the key business points and know how to signal and address potential legal issues
- Demonstrate business acumen in conjunction with legal issues
- Ability to lead and collaborate to help contain, resolve and address the many issues that may arise
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 7-10+ years of experience in healthcare law (provider-side preferred)
- BA/BS and JD with excellent law school credentials
- Bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state with ability to practice as in-house counsel in the State of Arizona
- Experience within a law firm and/or in-house legal department supporting a high-growth healthcare provider and/or digital health company preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk or computer
- Travel up to 15% of the time
