Solution Architect
BASE COMPENSATION: $170,000 - $190,000 annually
WORKPLACE SETTING: Remote
POSITION SUMMARY
The Solution Architect at 10X Health paves the road for every major initiative: shaping the solution from business intent through product and system architecture, proving it in working code, and handing development teams specifications precise enough to build fast and build right. This is emphatically not a paper architecture role. The Solution Architect validates designs by building them, typically delivering the first 50-60% of an initiative as working reference implementation before development teams take it to completion. In an organization where AI agents have largely solved the mechanics of writing code, the scarce skill is upstream: defining granular, unambiguous, development-ready specifications ahead of time. This role owns that discipline, owns the overall technology roadmap, and spans the full surface of our platforms, including web, cloud, integrations, and mobile. The role reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

OBJECTIVES
- Own solution design for each company initiative end to end: from business intent to product architecture, system architecture, integration design, and buildable specifications
- Prove architecture in code by building reference implementations, scaffolding, and the riskiest vertical slices, typically the first 50-60%, before handing to development teams
- Produce granular, development-ready specifications, designed so that developers and AI coding agents can execute rapidly with minimal ambiguity or rework
- Own product architecture alongside system architecture: how capabilities compose into products, member journeys, and revenue lines, not just how services talk to each other
- Own and maintain the overall technology roadmap, keeping it aligned with company strategy, sequencing initiatives, and making dependencies and tradeoffs visible to leadership
- Design integration solutions across commercial SaaS platforms, owned services, laboratory and clinical partners, and data systems
- Set the architectural direction for mobile alongside web and cloud, ensuring one coherent platform across surfaces
- Remains genuinely hands-on: prototypes, codes, and ships working software as the primary method of validating architecture
- Translates ambiguous business intent into precise technical specifications, closing the gap between what stakeholders ask for and what teams can build
- Demonstrates deep expertise in enterprise architecture, scalable system design, and modern API and microservices patterns
- Designs mobile application architecture (native or cross-platform) and understands the operational realities of app store delivery, offline behavior, and device data
- Develops scalable integration solutions across platforms, applications, and data systems, including vendor and partner systems with imperfect interfaces
- Applies DevOps and CI/CD best practices so reference implementations land in production pipelines, not in slide decks
- Maintains strong focus on security, compliance, and data protection standards, including HIPAA obligations in a healthcare context
- Communicates architecture clearly to executives, product stakeholders, and engineers alike, adjusting altitude without losing precision
- Uses AI coding agents such as Claude Code as a core working method, both to build reference implementations at high speed and to pressure-test whether specifications are truly unambiguous • Designs specifications and architecture artifacts for an AI-accelerated delivery model, where granular specs are the input that lets agents and developers produce correct code fast
- Designs and ships AI product features end to end, including model API integration, agent orchestration, retrieval augmented generation, structured tool use, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting agents to internal systems
- Builds evaluation and quality systems for AI features, including automated evals, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop review, so AI behavior stays measurable and controllable in production
- Applies responsible AI practices in a healthcare context, balancing model autonomy with human oversight and keeping AI features aligned with HIPAA, FTC, and broader consumer protection standards
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience as a hands-on architect on complex, multi-system initiatives
- Proven record of taking initiatives from concept to production, personally building foundational implementations that other engineers then extended
- Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, integrations, and scalable architecture; Microsoft Azure experience preferred
- Experience architecting and shipping production mobile applications alongside web and backend systems
- Experience writing detailed technical specifications and driving spec-first development across internal and offshore teams
- Experience owning or heavily shaping a technology roadmap across multiple products or initiatives
- Hands-on experience building and shipping production AI or LLM-powered product features, such as agentic workflows, RAG systems, copilots, or content generation pipelines
- Practical experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot in real engineering work, ideally including building custom agent skills, MCP integrations, or automated pipelines on top of them
- Healthcare, health-tech, SaaS, eCommerce, or consumer platform experience preferred
- Ability to spend prolonged periods working on a computer and communicating with patients and team members
- Ability to interact with patients virtually and occasionally in person
- Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions
